Half Way There
State Theatre
Downtown is my favorite part of downtown, and I think the center of this is the State theatre. I took this photo while I was downtown with a few of my friends. I love the design of the sign, and the way it casts light. I had trouble getting the street light out of the photo, and it worked out pretty well as it did. This is probably my favorite part about downtown Ann Arbor, because it shows a retro vibe, and it shows the spirit of the town.
Graffiti Alley
I love graffiti alley, and it’s colorful vibe. It is a place where artists can express and portray themselves, and not be judged (or actually judged). I was taking this photo on the way to the state theatre with my friends and we were in a very excited mood because they were going to try a place that I dearly love, Pieology. It is a new pizza place downtown with thin crust pizza. I took these photos while it was getting darker, so it was hard to get a crystal clear picture with the lighting, but I like the way they turned out.
Hill Auditorium
I took these on my way to the clock tower. Originally, I was not going to use Hill as a architecture photo, but the way I looked at it the more the beauty of it sunk in. If you look closely you can see the nice curves and edges that the auditorium shows with great pride. I had trouble with getting all of the building in, but eventually, once I stepped back far enough, I ot the whole building in perspective. I love the way that the sun hits the building.
Church
I love the architecture of this church on campus. I remember taking the photos and thinking about the wonderful architecture of it, and the man power it takes to build that sort of building. I am a Christian, so the Church has more than just the looks that sink in. I had to take these photos from far away because I forgot to bring my 18-58mm lense and brought the 58-200. I had to stand across the street to even get 75% of the church in it. Nonetheless, I think the photos of the church turned out well.
Bell tower
After Hill Auditorium, I made my way to the Bell Tower. Immediately, I faced a problem; the whole base of the tower was under construction. Since it was a bright blue day, I thought it was wise to shoot upwards. The photos were bright and blue and I think they turned out great. My fingers were cold so I had to go inside. I had to take the photos quickly, but they turned out fine.
